May 2010's trip to Thailand was a bit different than the others.  Joan and I rented a van and drove from Bangkok to Mae Sot,to Mae Sariang, to Gong Koi, to Chiang Mai, and then back to Bangkok.  We met other missionaries working in the area, visited an orphanage, established relationships with the YWAM outreach in Mae Sot, and visited the largest Karen Burmese refugee camp in NW Thailand!  We also met an Australian author and reporter, Dan, who was instumental in teaching us about the history and plight of the Burmese refugees and the Karen people.

                             

 This was important for us to do this, as Joan will be returning in Nov. 2010 to teach English, for a minimum of 1 year, at Phayer School!  She now has English speaking Christians in the area that can support and help her as she follows her heart and God's lead to go to a school where they speak little English and she speaks Thai nit noy (very little)!!  Please pray that this transition will be easy and Spirit led!

   We did spend some time at Phayer School/village and had a great time teaching the children to ROLLERBLADE!! We were able to bring 15 prs of rollerblades.... something these children have never done before!  We also saw the new, yet unfinished, library.... we had sent them the extra money from the last trip for this building!  

     
                                                                             

 AND... we asked what next??  After the teachers and principal met, we were asked if we would consider taking these children on a field trip!!   They told us that the children in this village are born on the mountain, live on the mountain, and die on the mountain :(       Most NEVER see a city or a beach....

We need to raise a minimum of $7,000 to take 70 children and teachers... on 2 buses.... for a 6 day trip.... with two one-day stops... and 2 full days at the BEACH!!!!    WOW!!!!!!!!!!
